Out of all the campaigns that Canadian’s participated in during the Second World War (1939-1945), none shaped Canadians and Canada as a nation more than the Battle of the Atlantic. The continuous mobilization of ships, supplies and personnel was a nationwide effort in the endless battle to not only transport supplies to Europe, but it was also an epic battle to fight off an elite force of enemy submarines called U-boats.

“Outward Bound and the Hope to Return” will explore the history of this epic battle, but it will also tell the story of a handful of Canadians who through their actions and great adversity sacrificed everything to end a war.

Over the past decade Jennifer Gamble has had the privilege to work with many museums including the Community Museum Association of PEI and with HMCS Sackville. Jennifer became the Curator for the Naval Museum of Halifax in December 2018. Getting to work with veterans and volunteers is one of the most rewarding parts of her job.
