10:00 to 4:00 each day
The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic will be taking part in Doors Open again this year, offering a wide variety of fascinating programs to delight, educate and inform.
Throughout the day, visitors can take part in fifteen-minute mini- tours called “My Favourite Things”, in which members of the Museum’s staff will introduce you to the artifacts in our collection which most appeal to them. Tours depart every thirty minutes starting at 10:00, with the last of the tours leaving the reception desk at 3:30.
We’ll also be showing a wide range of movies in our newly refurbished Robertson Warehouse Theatre. These films sourced from the Nova Scotia Archives and the National Film Board of Canada provide an amazing glimpse into our history as we celebrate Nova Scotia Museum 150. Films will be shown between 10:00 and Noon and 2:00 and 4:00.
The historic William Robertson & Son Ship Chandlery will also be open both days. The building, which dates back to 1840, was owned by three generations of the Robertson Family from 1879 to 1976. The city’s leading marine supply store, the chandlery survived the 1917 Halifax Explosion and has been restored to the way it would have looked at the turn of the last century.
