The Underwater Archaeology Society of Nova Scotia (UASNS) carried out a survey and excavation of the Terence Bay Wreck Site between 1980 and 1983. The UASNS concluded the shipwreck was a New England fishing schooner that wrecked in Wreck Cove, Lower Prospect during the 1750s. The Terence Bay Wreck exhibit has become the center piece in the underwater archaeological section of the shipwreck exhibit at Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The wreck has contributed to our understanding of the maritime history of the early fishery, ship construction, vessel ownership, and coastal trade along the coast of Nova Scotia after the founding of Halifax in 1749.

Maritime archaeologist and commercial diver Jonathan Kyte has recently completed a two year study of the wreck site to reassess, update and consolidate research on the wreck site.Assistance in completing the project was provided on a volunteer basis by recent graduates from the Holland Collage commercial diving program with previous terrestrial archaeological experience or a keen interest in maritime archaeology. The presentation reviews the work carried out by Jonathan Kyte and his team and provides additional insights gained during the survey.
