Tuesday Night Tunes: The SideCats

July 26, 2016

7 pm – 8 pm

The SideCat acoustic trio purrs up a special blend of original material along with some roots favourites.  With varying instrumentation of tenor saxophone, baritone sax, guitar, ukulele, flute and acoustic bass makes for a warm, organic and home-grown sound. The positive chemistry between the musicians comes through in their performance and their music is as genuine as the musicians themselves.

The SideCats are: Shirley Jackson - vocals, tenor sax, guitar; Dawn Hatifield - ukulele, baritone sax, flute, vocals; Jef Wirchenko – acoustic bass, vocals

Shirley Jackson’s songs are laced with life experience and honesty that cannot be overlooked.  The inspiration comes from a life force that has chosen to lend her the words to write the songs and arrange the music not only for the SideCats but also Halifax based band; Shirley Jackson & Her Good Rockin’ Daddys. Growing up in a small Alberta town, Shirley has been blazing trails for women in music for 30 years as a singer, songwriter, drummer, guitarist and an award winning saxophone player.
