Tonight’s talk brings together history through song and discussion to illuminate the events, movements, or moments in the remarkable history of Nova Scotia. That history is a complex story of bravery, nation building, displacement, and destruction that has made this province’s culture so eventful, rich, and, in some ways, problematic.
Jay Pilzer holds a Ph.D. in History from Duke University. He taught History for decades and has been a guitar player and songwriter since he was fifteen. He is the author of two books dealing with popular culture and music and is now working on a third.
