Tuesday, October 25, 2022
6:30 pm, Small Craft Gallery

For the past decade, Cathy LeBlanc and David Chapman have studied the meaning of the names of the Mi’kmaw Moons, and their connection with the ecological and celestial cycles. In the book Mi’kmaw Moons: The Seasons in Mi’kma’ki, the authors describe their journey by telling the “Holly and Auntie stories,” which have been central to their teachings. Alongside the Moon stories, the book offers insights into seasonal traditions from past times and the astronomy behind the Moon cycles and the modern Western calendar. Cathy and Dave will share how they met and worked on the Mi’kmaw Moons Project using the method of Eptuaptmumk/Two-Eyed Seeing.
