Halifax’s Underground Tall Tale: Myth, Muddle and Tunnel

October 2, 2017

At 7:30 pm (doors open at 7:00)

Industrial Heritage Nova Scotia is holding their monthly meeting at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on Monday, October 2nd. As always, they are having a guest speaker, whose talk is open to all interested members of the public.

This month, Laura de Boer is the guest speaker and will be talking about one of our city’s enduring urban legends. One of Halifax's most popular folktales is the presence of an underground tunnel network beneath the streets of our centuries-old city, leading from the Citadel to the waterfront or even further. 'Everyone knows about it' - but what do we really know? Where did the story come from? This talk explores the real facts and tangible history behind Halifax's underground networks, a story that in truth relates more to our historic industry and infrastructure than to secret entrances and hidden escape routes.

The talk is free and the doors will open at 7:00.
