The Nova Scotia Cultural Society for the Deaf invites you to the Halifax Premiere of Halifax Explosion: The Deaf Experience followed by a reception and viewing of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic Halifax Explosion Exhibit.

Tickets will go on sale after Labour Day. For tickets and more information please contact Jim McDermott at flyers72@hotmail.com.

Winner of Best Canadian Deaf Film at the Toronto International Deaf Film Arts Festival (TIDFAF) and selected for FIN: Atlantic International Film Festival, Halifax Explosion: The Deaf Experience is a unique documentary about the Halifax School for the Deaf and how every single person within that school survived not only the Halifax Explosion, but also the major blizzard that hit the city the following day. Every single person survived. How did that happen when so many other communities perished? This story of how an entire community not only survived the Explosion, but thrived and passed on those experiences remains undocumented, until now. Told in both Maritime Sign Language and American Sign Language (with English captions), this documentary explores the strength of a community and preserves this valuable history for generations to come.
