Industrial Heritage Nova Scotia is holding their monthly meeting at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on Monday, October 1st. As always, they are having a guest speaker, whose talk is open to all interested members of the public.
This month, historian David Jones will look at the fascinating history of Halifax’s forgotten fortress, Fort Clarence. Begun in 1754 and rebuilt of stone in the 1860s, the fort eventually fell, not in siege or battle but as a victim to the expansion of the Dartmouth Irving Refinery in the 1940s. Today, a passionate group of local supporters are spurring a movement to have the fort excavated.
The talk is free and the doors will open at 7:00.
