Yarmouth Shantymen Tuesday Night Tunes

After celebrating the Natal Day long weekend at the museum, what better way to continue the fun than having our longstanding friends, the Yarmouth Shantymen to perform songs of the sea for our Tuesday Night Tunes series!

The Yarmouth Shantymen formed back in 1984 somewhat accidentally when founder Eric Ruff asked some friends to accompany him to illustrate a talk on sea shanties at the Yarmouth County Museum (Nova Scotia). This was supposed to be a "one-time gig" but fast forward to today, the group is still going strong!

They have performed at the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, the Wooden Boat Festival in Mahone Bay, the annual Fish Feast in Yarmouth, and many other events in and around Yarmouth.

The group has also released four CD's featuring traditional sea shanties sung with their own twist and harmonies.

Join us for tales and sea-faring songs in the museum’s anchor yard.

As part of our Tuesday community nights at the museum, we offer free admission from 5 pm – 8 pm. We also encourage donations to Feed Nova Scotia to help curb food insecurity in Halifax, together!
