August 14, 2018

7:00 pm

As part of our continuing series of live music this summer, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is pleased to welcome back the eclectic ensemble, the Haltown Stompers to the Tuesday Night Tunes.

The Haltown Stompers are a jug band in Halifax formed in 2015 who play 1920s- and 1930s-era blues and jazz as well as country, folk and bluegrass tunes plus a few originals. The current lineup consists of Mike Chandler (Senor Fantastico) on lead vocals, tin can ukulele, mandolin, kazoo and harmonica; Jay Perry (Jay-Zed) on washtub bass and vocals; Jim Smith (Stringmaster Slim) on banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle and vocals; and John van Gurp (Backup Johnny) on washboard and vocals. The Stompers have hosted some of the What the Folk open mic events held by the Helen Creighton Society and have performed at various other venues in the Halifax area. You can find them on Facebook and watch their videos on YouTube

This concert is co-sponsored by the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and Develop Nova Scotia.
