Industrial Heritage Nova Scotia

Industrial Heritage Nova Scotia invites you to join them for a free talk on Monday, November 5th in the Meeting Room, located on the second floor of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.

 

This month, John Ashton will be giving a presentation on the industrial development of Pictou County, a powerhouse of industry in Nova Scotia for many years.

John Ashton is a 34-year self-employed historical author, columnist, graphic and visual artist. He has authored two books and has published over 100 historical columns in the New Glasgow News. In 2014, John was appointed as the Nova Scotia representative on the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. He was also the regional representative for The Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia and Design in Business Nova Scotia. Scottish Television and the British Broadcasting Corp. have consulted with John on several of their historical programs featuring Nova Scotia. He is also a seven-year volunteer with Canada Volunteer Awards as a regional reviewer and ambassador. John has won several awards for his design work and in 2012 was awarded the Queen Elizabet Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition for preserving Nova Scotia history and dedication to the graphic design profession. He lives in Bridgeville, Pictou County.
