Hands-On Family Workshop

For those looking for a specialized lesson in working with wood, sewing canvas and other traditional maritime crafts, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is offering a limited registration family workshop from 1:00-4:00 on the following days:

  • Tuesday March 13
  • Wednesday March 14
  • Thursday March 15

Museum boatbuilder Eamonn Doorly and heritage interpreter Derek Harrison will lead families in an interactive, hands on program where participants will learn about traditional sailing rigs, try their hand at canvas work and rope splicing. In addition, they’ll also try using traditional wood working tools and learn about wooden boat building.

The workshop takes place outdoors in the unheated museum boatshed and courtyard (please dress accordingly).
